Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This is a working draft, not legal advice. This policy was written to reflect what The Marquee actually collects. Have a lawyer review it before you launch.

1. Who we are

The Marquee is operated by its account owner. For any data request, email hello@themarqueehq.com or use our contact form.

2. Data we collect from speakers

When you create a speaker account, we collect:

  • Your email address and password (stored as a hash).
  • Your profile: display name, tagline, headshot, bio, topics, specialties, industries, languages, location, and travel preferences.
  • Your fee band, video reel link, speaker sheet, website, and social links.
  • Your talks: titles, descriptions, cover images, segments, timing rules, questions, and resource links.
  • Your speaking history: event names, dates, venues, photos, and whether each is public.
  • Your inquiries: who contacted you, their message, and the status of each inquiry.
  • Your availability: dates you are booked, on hold, or unavailable.
  • Your applications to events and their status.

This data is visible to you and to platform administrators. Your public profile is visible to anyone, including organizers and search engines, if you choose to publish it.

3. Data we collect from organizers

When you create an organizer account, we collect:

  • Your email address and password.
  • Your organization details: name, logo, website, contact name, contact email, phone, location, and about text.
  • Your posted events: title, description, type, format, dates, venue, audience, budget, speaker brief, topics, cover image, and contact information.
  • Applications you receive and the status you assign them.

Organization details and events are visible to you and to platform administrators. Published events are visible to anyone on the event board.

4. Audience data (people who never signed up)

This is the part that matters most. When someone scans a QR code to join a live session, they never create an account. Here is what we collect from them:

  • Name, always, as they enter it.
  • Email, organization, role, or other fields the speaker chose to add to the join form.
  • Responses to polls, word clouds, quizzes, and any live questions the speaker runs during the session.
  • Feedback they leave after the session, including a rating and a written comment if they choose to leave one.

Who sees it: only the speaker who ran the session and platform administrators. No other speaker, no organizer, and no other audience member can see an individual's responses.

Export: the speaker can export all audience data from a session as a CSV file.

How long it is kept: for the life of the speaker's account, unless the audience member requests deletion.

How to request deletion: email hello@themarqueehq.com with the session name and date, and we will delete the record. You do not need to know the speaker's name or have an account to make this request.

5. Testimonials

When an audience member leaves feedback after a session, the speaker can mark it as a testimonial. If the speaker also marks it as shareable, the comment may appear publicly on the speaker's profile, along with the name and title the person gave when they left the feedback. If you see your comment on a profile and want it removed, email hello@themarqueehq.com.

6. Public directory and search engines

Published speaker profiles and the public directory are designed to be found by search engines. Your name, tagline, topics, headshot, and speaking history may appear in search results. If you do not want this, do not publish your profile, or pause your listing from Settings. Pausing hides it from the directory and adds a noindex directive.

7. Third-party services

  • Stripe processes subscription payments. Stripe receives your card details directly. We never see or store them.
  • Resend delivers our transactional emails (welcome, inquiry alerts, application updates, digests). Resend sees the recipient address and the email content.
  • Base44 hosts the application and stores all data described above on its servers.

Each of these has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to read them.

8. Cookies and local storage

The Marquee uses a session token stored in local storage to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

9. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account from Settings, we immediately remove your profile, talks, sessions, engagements, testimonials, inquiries, and all audience data from your sessions. If you have an active subscription, it is canceled at the end of the current billing period so you are not charged again. Some records, such as email logs, may be kept longer for security and audit purposes.

All account data is removed immediately when you delete your account. Your login identity itself is held by the hosting platform, not by The Marquee, so signing in again afterward starts a fresh, empty account rather than restoring anything that was deleted.

10. Your rights

You can export your data at any time. You can delete your account from Settings, which immediately removes all of the data described above, including audience data from your sessions. To request a copy of your data, or to request deletion without deleting your account, email hello@themarqueehq.com.

11. Children

The Marquee is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us their data, email hello@themarqueehq.com and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we will notify active users by email. Continued use after the change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
